AS/400 and iSeries Security Fundamentals
with Wayne Evans

In our AS/400 security seminar, Mr. Evans will discuss ways that you can more effectively manage critical security issues on your AS/400s. He will also discuss best practices in security policies and why they are the cornerstone to effective corporate security. You’ll also get the chance to ask Mr. Evans, who has over 30 years of experience in AS/400 security, questions regarding the security of your own AS/400s.

In this seminar, you will learn:

  • How to get information into the hands of more people than ever before - both inside and outside of your organization - but not the wrong hands and not the wrong information.
  • Exit point security: how to protect the backdoors to your system.
  • System values: how to protect your critical system resources
  • Object authorities: how to protect your company’s business critical data
  • User and group profile security: how to keep powerful users in check.
  • OS/400 Security Audit Journal and how to use it.
  • Using the Security Tools.
  • Security at level’s 40 and 50 as well as how to prepare to move to those levels.
Wayne Evans is formerly of the Rochester IBM development team and is an internationally recognized AS/400 security expert as one of the lead designers of AS/400 security. After 27 years at IBM, Mr. Evans now travels extensively throughout the US serving as a consultant and speaking about critical AS/400 security topics. He is a regular security subject matter speaker and expert at COMMON as well as many other User Group forums and technical conferences.

This course starts at 8:30 AM and ends at 5:00 PM and will be held on:

    February 3, 2003 at the Richmond Airport Holiday Inn in Richmond, VA.

    February 4, 2003 at the Holiday Inn in College Park on US1 and the Beltway.

    February 5, 2003 at the Holiday Inn, Ft. Washington, PA
Registration will start at 8 A.M. Continental breakfast during registration as well as a working lunch are included in the course fee.

The course fee is $250 for non-user group members and $225 for user group members. A cancellation fee of $50 will be assessed for cancellations within 7 days of the event. This fee offering is a special arrangement between Washington Area Midrange Users Group and MidAtlantic Midrange. Members of other AS/400 User groups may also apply under the user group rate.
