President's Message by Don Rima

Greetings...

OK, it’s finally out. V5R3....i5/OS... What ever you want to call it, it’s out and from what I’m hearing there’s some interesting new stuff in last week’s announcement. I’m also hearing that we’re finally paying pSeries prices for iSeries hardware that’s the same that the pSeries folks have been getting at a lot less. Now, that’s goodness.

And, there’s some nice enhancements coming in the languages area...including some long awaiting additions to CL and other languages.

And, also the ability to run AIXL, OS/400, Windows and Linux all on the same box at the same time.

And, it’s got a lot more that I just don’t have room or time to cram into this little letter.

SO, we’ve got IBM’s Mark Borash coming to the May WAM meeting to tell us all about the announcement, what it means to us and what it can do for us.

Also, at the request of IBM, we moved the date back to the 25th of May. Just to make sure that everyone that was going to be presenting here had an opportunity to get briefed. So, we’re hoping for a information packed evening!

This will probably be a high interest meeting, so please get your RSVP’s in early...preferably today.

See you at WAM on the 25th. Register early and bring a friend!
