President's Message By Don Rima

The Chinese have a saying. "May you live in interesting times."

I said in the kickoff newsletter we were going to cover a lot of territory in presentations this year that would help to broaden and expose our membership in areas beyond the traditional green screen. The iSeries platform is evolving and to keep current with the industry, we need as broad of an exposure to its technologies as possible. Nowhere was this clearer than last week in New York at Linux World where IBM’s Bill Zeitler stated that IBM was going to be moving from the proprietary systems and to the open systems. And, we’re hoping to have some linux presentations later this year.

This month we have a great presentation on the latest Lotus Domino technologies and strategies, including iNotes, RNext, LEINext, Websphere integration, other topics specific to Domino for iSeries, and the latest from Lotusphere. This evening’s presentation is designed to let you know the latest and greatest of what’s happening in this area.

Our speaker is Thomas M. Harrison from CAS. Tom is their Lotus Practice Manager and has more certifications and background experience in the Lotus arena than my editor will let me put in an email newsletter.

As I mentioned at the January meeting, we were going to have a presentation on using the Microsoft Visual front ends to access data in real time on the iSeries. We had to postpone this due to some pressing technical issues to a later meeting.
