President's Message from Peter MaherHappy New Year 2001!Well here we are again at the beginning of another year. The WAM board and I hope that all of you have had an enjoyable Holiday season. This year we hope will be another great year and we have many things planned for you. Based on the feedback we have received from you we will be looking to present monthly meetings that address many of your concerns. We also are planning more of the one day and multi-day topic specific seminars. For those of our more "southern" members or those who don't mind traveling, we are pleased to inform you of an event you may be interested in. On Friday March 16th Don Denoncourt will be presenting a reprise of his very successful One Day JAVA seminar. Those of you who missed Don in May when WAM presented him may want to take advantage of this event. This event will be presented in the Richmond Area. Richmond has not had a users group for a few years so there will not be a users group discount on the seminar price. BUT as a special offer WAM members in good standing will receive a $25.00 discount. (My sources tell me that the full price will be $125.00 I will have more details soon - we are still ironing out all the final details.) JAM 2000 was a Great Success As those of you who attended know, JAM 2000 was a great day full of camaraderie and the chance to learn from some of the eServer iSeries top experts. The Board and I want to take this opportunity to thank the people who made JAM 2000 possible. First of all to the best lineup of speakers THANKS without the speakers you would have to listen to people like me and I don't think you want that! Next of course the vendors who donated their time and information to make our second expo a success. And finally and most importantly to the almost 150 of you who attended A HUGE THANKS! In response to the overwhelming demand JAM will stay the first Friday in December. So mark your calendars now for December 7th 2001 - JAM 2001! MEMBERS FREE 30.00 Non-Member Treasurer's MessageYear 2001 membership renewalJAM 2000 provided an excellent way to end Year 2000. The attendance at the JAM was even better than what we expected and the feedback from attendees indicated that it was the best JAM ever. The membership dollars went even further in the year 2000. The Board was able to offer a very well attended one-day JAVA seminar in May at an extremely good price - especially for the members. It is time now to renew your memberships for another year. I will like to take this opportunity to thank all the members who have renewed their membership for year 2001 along with the JAM registration. Everyone else should have received an invoice for renewal. I will appreciate if you can take care of the renewal at the earliest so that we can focus on another year of activities for you. If you have any questions, or if you will like to start a new membership, please feel free to call me. Your 2001 membership can be renewed or a new membership started by sending in your check for $100 for the annual fee. The checks made out to WAM may be sent to:
