President's Message from Peter Maher

JAVA and ILE and V4R5 oh my!

Denoncourt Wows 'em in May!

Last month WAM presented Don Denoncourt for an all day seminar on JAVA for RPG Programmers. This was one of the best presentations in a long time! Most all of the attendees were very pleased with Don's knowledge of the subject and the ease with which he presented it. Due to the overwhelming demand we will be bringing Don back later this year for an evening meeting.

On a WAM self-congratulatory note I think all in attendance will agree that this event was the greatest deal of the century. Many thanks to all who made this such a great event.

ILE - The New Programming Model

The June meeting will feature Jim Mestan of Lakeview Advanced Systems. Jim is a senior instructor and will be here to fill us in on all the benefits of ILE as well as the new terminology. Folks you have been asking for a session on ILE and here it is. Jim is considered one of the best so come on out to College Park on Tuesday June 20th.

Looking Ahead.

In July we will be hosting PentaSafe on Security issues. In this day of "Love Bugs" and the like its not enough to know the 400 is a secure box. The AS400s used to be inherently secure. However, with the technology such as TCP/IP, ODBC, FTP, Client Access or the Internet on your AS/400s, your security can be quickly compromised, especially if you don't have your AS/400 security configured properly. Learn what you need today to help you tomorrow.

See you on the 20th.
